Who we are

Ready Here at Southern Sass Farm Alliance, we understand the need for both: loving what you do and living life while doing what you love!

Our story: In 2022 our family felt called move across the state and to start a small farm. Since then, we have had many ups and downs and some hard lessons learned. At times, we wondered what we were doing and how we ended up here. Now, we can clearly see that God has moved mountains and thankfully, our farm is prospering! One of the things we love about our new life is knowing where a majority of our food is now coming from. Being able to drink the milk from our cows and eat our “free eggs” while sitting on the porch is something we never imagined. We love our animals and our new slower pace (if you can call farming a slower pace).

Our love for our farm and land was completely unexpected, but we would not trade for anything!!With all the wonderful things about farm life, came adjustments we never considered. First and foremost was having to be home to care for our animals. We have always been a spontaneous family. To wake up and drive to the beach or spend the day hiking in the Smoky Mountains was nothing unusual for us. All of a sudden, those things were not possible because someone had to milk the cow and ensure all the other animals had feed and water. We found that the only way to take the trip was through careful planning and even then, someone usually has to stay behind to care for the animals. That was a hard realization. The majority of our family lives out of state, and if an emergency were to happen, what would we do? We realized quickly, that we needed an emergency plan just in case.We know we cannot be the only ones who have had a hard time adjusting to this new way of life. That is where Southern Sass Farm Alliance comes in.Our mission is to form an alliance with our neighbors, so that when the mountains (or beach ) is calling, or family back home needs you in an emergency, you can answer with confidence knowing the hose has been turned off and the gates have been close. Whether that means one day, or one week we are here for you!
